Settings Overview: Configuring Your Station

The Settings area is the "Command Center" for your radio station. From here, you can define your station's identity, secure your broadcast with passwords, and manage advanced technical endpoints like mount points.

Pro Tip: Most changes in the Settings area (especially Mount Points) require a Server Restart from the Dashboard sidebar to take effect.

1. Station Profile & Identity

Your profile defines how your station appears to the world and how the server handles time-based events.

  • Stream Title: The official name of your station shown on players.
  • Genre & Description: These help listeners discover your station in public radio directories.
  • Time Zone: Set this to your local time to ensure your AutoDJ Schedules trigger at the correct hour.
  • Country Blocking: Use the "Ban stream for selected countries" tool if you need to restrict your broadcast to specific regions for licensing or legal reasons.

2. Managing Your Passwords

Security is vital. Under Settings -> Change Password, you can update two separate types of access:

  • Source Password: This is what you enter into your encoder (Mixxx, SAM, etc.) to go live.
  • Admin Password: Grants administrative access to the underlying streaming server (Icecast/Shoutcast).

Security Note: We recommend changing these passwords at least once every 90 days.

3. Mount Points (Icecast Only)

Mount points are the "channels" of your station. You can manage them under Settings -> Mount Points:

  • Default Mount: Usually /stream. This is where your main broadcast lives.
  • Creating New Mounts: You can create secondary mount points for different bitrates (e.g., /mobile at 64kbps and /hq at 320kbps).
  • AutoDJ Toggle: You can choose which specific mount points the AutoDJ should feed music into.

4. Remote Relaying

If you want to broadcast your feed to another server (e.g., a secondary distribution network or a partner station), use the Relaying section.

  • Click Add Remote Relay Point.
  • Enter the destination server details.
  • This effectively "repeats" your stream to the new location in real-time.

5. Diagnostics & Server Logs

If you are experiencing connection drops or technical errors, the Logs section is the first place to look:

  • Icecast Error Log: Displays why a listener or encoder might have been disconnected.
  • Liquidsoap Log: Shows the internal logic of the AutoDJ and track transitions.
  • Access Log: A live feed of every listener IP currently connecting to your stream.
