Quick Start Guide

Welcome to the CastHost Dashboard! This guide will help you get started quickly with the essential steps to configure your station, manage playlists, and begin streaming.

Step 1: Log in to the Dashboard

1. Open your browser and go to the dashboard login page.
2. Enter your username and password, then click Login.
3. Once logged in, you’ll be directed to the Dashboard Overview.

Step 2: Configure Station Settings

1. Go to Settings > Profile Tab.
2. Complete the following fields:
• Stream Title: Enter the name of your station.
• Website URL: Add the URL for your station’s website.
• Time Zone: Select your local time zone.
3. Click Save to apply changes.

Step 3: Upload Media Files

1. Navigate to DJ Management > Playlists Tab.
2. Click Upload Files and select audio files from your computer.
3. Click Submit to upload them to your media library.

Step 4: Create a Playlist

1. In the Playlists Tab, click Add Playlist.
2. Fill in the playlist details:
• Title: Enter a name for the playlist.
• Type: Select General Rotation for regular playback or Scheduled for specific time slots.
• Playback Order: Choose Sequential or Shuffle.
• Weight: Set the playlist’s priority (higher weight means higher priority).
3. Add tracks from your library by selecting them in the playlist editor.
4. Click Save Changes to create the playlist.

Step 5: Schedule Playback

1. Go to DJ Management > Scheduling Tool Tab.
2. Click on a blank calendar space on the desired date.
3. Select a playlist from the dropdown and configure playback times.
4. Click Save Changes to schedule the playlist.

Step 6: Configure AutoDJ (Optional)

1. Go to Settings > AutoDJ Tab.
2. Toggle AutoDJ Status to Enabled.
3. Adjust Crossfade Length and Threshold for smooth transitions between tracks.
4. Click Save Changes.

Step 7: Start Streaming

1. Navigate to Dashboard > Station Details.
2. Use the Encoder Info section to configure your broadcasting software (e.g., Mixxx, Butt):
• Protocol: Choose Icecast or Shoutcast.
• Server Hostname: Copy the server’s URL.
• Port: Enter the assigned port number.
• Password: Use the source password for authentication.
3. Start your broadcasting software to begin streaming live.

Step 8: Monitor Statistics

1. Go to Statistics > Live Statistics to view real-time listener data.
2. Check Top Countries and Top User Agents to analyze your audience.

Step 9: Embed Widgets (Optional)

1. Navigate to Widgets Tab and select a widget (e.g., Stream Status, Recent Tracks).
2. Customize the widget settings.
3. Copy the provided HTML/JavaScript code.
4. Paste the code into your website’s HTML where you want the widget to appear.

Step 10: Add Jingles (Optional)

1. Go to DJ Management > Jingles Tab.
2. Upload jingle files using the Upload button.
3. Click Add Jingle to configure playback rules (e.g., after a specific number of songs or minutes).
4. Save changes to activate jingles during broadcasts.
